Nike x Sacai – Good things come to those who wait…

The hybrid motifs announced by Sacai’s Chitose Abe have caused quite a stir since we first set eyes on them a few months ago. Following a few initial rumours about the patchwork-like models, there was great excitement when the official pictures finally emerged.

As a successful contrast to her previous collaborations with Nike, the versatile designer is finally launching a revamped Blazer Dunk Hybrid with an LDV Waffle. The models were originally expected at the start of the year, but since then have been indefinitely postponed twice. But now it looks like the Sacai models will come out this month, making the FS19 season even more interesting.

There will be a total of 4 colourways: two low-top variants in orange/green and blue/red and two high-top variants in black/blue and yellow/navy. Although the individual designs remain true to the designer’s inspiration, the influence of Sacai is unmistakeable on each model. Alongside the unmissable double swoosh, the soles, which seem to have been made from several parts, are among the outstanding features of the models.

In any case, the first images still look very promising and we are all eagerly awaiting details of the release. But be warned – the models will be extremely limited and the prospects of coming by a Sacai for retail are slim. Watch this space – Empire will of course keep you posted about the release.
